Products description

Mjolnir was also the symbol for Thor and was worn as an amulet around the neck (see picture). Iron Thor hammers on iron Chokers were found in cremations the 9th and 10th century, mainly in the field of Svea, in central Sweden, Åland and in Russia. Approximately 50 silver Thor hammers are known from Treasury, digging or settlement finds. They focus on southern and central Scandinavia and Iceland. They can be dated to the 10th and on Gotland until the end of the century. Some finds are from Poland and England, some from Bernstein of which exist. There are many different forms of hammer-amulets, z. B. the mallet. For the transitional period between pagan and Christian faith in Scandinavia amulets were found that could potentially represent a response to the Christian cross. In fact, the findings have been mostly found in graves of females, and are more likely with fertility rites and marriage dedications in conjunction.
